. . . the kind of information shown in a television
image is of a very low-grade, poor quality which the
public has to complete and fill in for itself every
instant by a considerable effort or participation.
Color creates another lowering of definition and
involves even more participation than black and
white. It is more faithful to the nature of TV to be in
color because color is itself one of those very tactile
forms of participation.
